About Me

I serve adult individuals, families and couples with a pragmatic and depth focus.

About Me

I bring to my work more than six decades of life experience that includes coping with mental illness in my family, healing from that situation through therapy, meditation, building strength through dealing with life’s challenges, and a long, happy marriage. I’m licensed as a psychologist in Washington (PY 60478357), where I moved in 2014. I meet with Washington clients in person and maintain my California (PSY 19356) license to continue serving established, qualifying clients there. I enjoy socializing with friends, serve on the Board of ACISTE (American Center for the Integration of Spiritually Transformative Experiences, and am a forum moderator on

Practice Philosophy

My Approach to Therapy

My practice focuses on supporting adults and elders who can reliably and safely cope, and who may want to go deeper for greater emotional freedom and fulfillment. My approach is integrative, grounded in depth psychology, life experience, and pragmatic approaches from current evidence-based therapies. I address you as a whole person, not a combination of symptoms to be treated, using a therapeutic lens that is biopsychosocial and spiritual. I work on the assumption that irrational choices are made for a reason that was once appropriate. In couples therapy I stop arguments to maintain emotional safety and don’t force openness but foster it through acceptance and trust. The work begins with a thorough and kind evaluation, and presentation of straightforward treatment options.

More Information About My Practice

Evening and weekend (Saturday) hours are now available for your convenience. My depth psychology approach is grounded in Jung’s Analytical Psychology and psychodynamic psychology. I offer dreamwork as a direct emotional connection to inner life. This depth approach is integrated with EMDR, CBT, ACT, and am influenced by DBT. I’m an experienced meditator and have studied eastern understandings of the mind to help you divide overwhelming challenges into manageable ones and to not take things personally where that adds unneeded stress. I help train clinicians for certification in working with spiritually transformative experiences at ACISTE.

Often people find me through my writings, some of which are published on this site. Others may be found on my website, which is linked on this page. My clientele typically consists of people who like to read about psychology and spiritual topics. Some are more comfortable speaking with an older man. I am told they appreciate my conversational and educational approach. many come to therapy more than ready to talk and be understood, something I welcome and support.
