About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with adolescents and adults in Philadelphia and specializes in the treatment of anxiety, trauma, and depression.

About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania with a private practice in the Rittenhouse Square area of Philadelphia. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety disorders, including social anxiety, generalized anxiety, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, and specific phobias. Other areas of focus include depression, stress management, and life transitions.

I earned my Master’s in Professional Clinical Counseling from La Salle University and my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis. I have clinical experience working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds due to working in various mental health settings, including community mental health agencies and an intensive outpatient program, before starting my private practice.

I believe that empowerment, growth, and change come from insight and modification of unhelpful beliefs and behaviors. A safe and trusting therapeutic relationship is essential in order for therapy to be beneficial. Therefore, my approach is warm and empathetic as I work to guide my clients to acquire the tools and skills needed to realize their personal potential and learn to look at their life and choices in a different way.

Practice Philosophy

My Approach to Therapy

I primarily use cognitive behavioral and mindfulness-based approaches to therapy. Sessions typically focus on helping clients to explore relationships between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and to learn to modify unhelpful thinking and behavior. I believe in a personalized approach to therapy, so I draw from various therapeutic techniques to meet the strengths, needs, and goals of each client. My belief is that therapy is most beneficial when it is a collaborative process between the therapist and client, so I help my clients to identify their own goals for making meaningful changes in their lives and then acquire the tools needed to make progress toward these goals. This may include helping clients to: make sense of difficult past experiences, develop a different relationship to their thoughts, learn healthy coping skills, and reevaluate perceptions and beliefs.

I specialize in using exposure therapies to treat anxiety disorders, including Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Prolonged Exposure Therapy for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Research has shown exposure therapies to be highly effective treatments for anxiety disorders, with many clients seeing significant decrease in symptoms within a short period of time.
